How this site earns revenue โ and the editorial firewall that keeps our comparisons honest
How TheConsumerBuy Generates Revenue
TheConsumerBuy is free to read. We sustain the site through affiliate marketing partnerships with retailers such as Amazon and other e-commerce platforms. When you click a product link in one of our comparisons and complete a purchase, we may receive a referral commission from the retailer. This commission comes at no extra cost to you โ the price you pay is identical whether you use our link or navigate to the retailer directly.
Our Editorial Firewall:
Commission rates play no role in our rankings or recommendations. Products are scored against fixed evaluation criteria for their category. A product with a higher affiliate payout will never outrank a product that performed better in our testing.
What Affiliate Links Mean for You
- No price markup โ Retailers pay us, not you. Your total at checkout is unaffected by using our links.
- Products can lose โ If a product underperforms in our comparison, we say so plainly, regardless of its commission structure.
- Always disclosed โ Every article that contains affiliate links includes a visible notice at the top.
How We Protect Editorial Independence
Our comparison methodology is defined before we evaluate any products. Criteria are set at the category level โ for example, a comparison of portable chargers will always weigh battery capacity, charging speed, build quality, and price. Individual products are scored against those fixed criteria. At no point in this process does commission rate enter the equation.
We regularly publish comparisons where the top-ranked product has a lower affiliate payout than its competitors. If a product is the best option for the reader, that's the product we recommend.
